Sapin Sapin Roll
Sapin sapin is a layered coconut and glutinous rice dessert. This dessert is made from glutinous rice flour, sugar, coconut milk, and coloring and flavoring. Sapin sapin is most famous for its colored layers, chewiness and yummy taste. YummyKitchenTV version of the famous dessert is simple and easy to follow. There is no reason to mess up this delicious dessert which originated from the norther part of the Philippines.
Ingredients:
-1 cup glutinous rice flour
-1/4 cup sugar
-1/4 all purpose flour
-1 tsp salt
-1 cup coconut milk
-Sesame seeds
-Food color and flavoring (yellow, pandan and ube)
Procedure:
1. In clean bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, sugar and salt.
2. Make a well in the center and pour coconut milk.
3. Mix until there is no more lumps.
4. Strain and divide into three equal portions.
5. Add coloring and flavoring into each individual bowl or portions.
6. Pour the yellow mixture first into the baking pan lined with parchment paper.
7. Steam for 5 minutes, and after about 5 minutes pour second portion of batter and steamfor 8 minutes. Then pour the third portion and steam again for 12 minutes.
8. When rice cake is steamed, let it cool a bit.
9. Remove parchment paper and roll into a log. Drizzle with sesame seeds then press down harder on the sesame seeds.
10. Slice into desired sizes.
11. Serve and enjoy.
